Mary Jane Anderson

Mary Jane Anderson (née Dau) died on April 25, 2024, at Milestone Senior Living after a brief illness. Born in Milltown, on October 7, 1928 Mary was the third of six children of Clarence Floyd and Minnie Koepke Dau.

Mary graduated Milltown High School in May of 1946 and went on to Polk County Normal School for her teaching certificate. She later received her B.S. in elementary education from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.

Married to Carl Anderson on May 22, 1952, they built a home in Arbor Vitae and raised their two children, Kathy and Carl Eric there. Mary continued to teach school in Minocqua until after Carl’s death.

Her passion was travel. She visited 48 of the 50 United States, all but New Jersey and Delaware. However, her true passion lay in Alaska, where she drove the Alcan Highway in June 2011.

Mary was a charter member Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church of Minocqua. Her memorial service will be held at Calvary on June 8 at 10:30 a.m. with a luncheon following the service.
