Living Wisconsin's History
Mercer history instructor Debbie Hohner secured grants from the Mercer Education Foundation for seventh grade classes to get first-hand knowledge of their state of Wisconsin. Pictured, front row from left, are students Kailey Bianga, Ronin Stryjewski, John Hanson, Zach Huybrecht, and Education Foundation members treasurer Raven Miller and Kelly Kohegyi; standing are Foundation members Hohner, president Jama Boes, Mary Ann Sabec, Britney Anderson, Kalyn Gize, Scott Waltemate, Patrick Grams, Conner Brandt, Aaron Towne, Ryan Losh, and Foundation member physical education instructor Adam Miller. The students in seventh grade are the benefactors of an annual program entitled Living Wisconsin's History. They toured the state's capital in Madison, visited the Wisconsin Historical Society, travelled to Eagle and visited Old World Wisconsin, a living museum; toured the University of Wisconsin; and visited the Wisconsin Veterans Museum. They received a better understanding of our history, more knowledge of how government works and how to seek government's assistance, and experience live outside of the Mercer community and options for their future.
