John Morris Scheibe, 88 of Harshaw, passed away on March 29 at Milestone Living Center in Woodruff. John was born on October 31, 1937 in Marshfield, the son of Reuben and Margaret (nee Keidith) Scheibe.
John went to St. John’s Elementary School and Marshfield Senior High School and attended Stevens Point University and served proudly in the Army National Guard.
John worked as a civil engineer and surveyor for Perry Carrington Engineering Corporation.
John was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus member, active with the Masons, American Legion and VFW, and a member of the garden club. He was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was a sacristan, eucharistic minister, and a dedicated usher. John was always busy in workshop, drawing up plans for land, large and small buildings, and woodcarving.
He is survived by his wife Rosemary Scheibe and his sons Michael Scheibe, Tim Scheibe and daughter Linda (Kevin) Olsen and by his beloved grandchildren Kahsondra (Steve) Schlewitz, Kyla (Dr. Alex) Banerjee and step-granddaughter Becky (Jeremy) Barnhill, and his great-grandchildren Oliver Schlewitz and Naya Banerjee.
Further survived by his sister-in-laws Rita Bennett and Joyce (Tim) Ressel and by his nephew Wayne (Bonnie) Klappa and niece Kathleen (Ron) Shymanski and many other relatives.
John was preceded in death by his parents Reuben and Margaret Scheibe, sister Marlene (Jim) Wenzel, brother Jarl (Jan) Scheibe and daughter in law Linda Scheibe.
A memorial Mass for John will be held on Thursday, May 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Reception will follow mass in the church dining hall. Burial with military honors will take place at 2 p.m. at Northwoods National Cemetery in Harshaw.
