Joyce Richmond, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on October 28, 2024, from a short battle with cancer at the age of 75.
Born in Lansing, Mich. to Althea (Don) Chivington and James Dobson, Joyce will be remembered for her strength, generosity, love, and stubbornness. She dedicated her life to her family, and they devoted their lives to giving her a hard time. She endured, with love and affection, the antics of her beloved husband of nearly 50 years, Dave, and her three daughters, Amy (Michael) Cottrell, Jenny (Mark) Vandlen, and Tammy (Michael) Taber.
Joyce graduated from Henry Ford Nursing College and practiced as a public health nurse in Saginaw, Mich. The family moved to Wisconsin in 1986; after that, she was committed to raising her three girls. A longtime member of Pine Grove Community Church, Joyce loved serving, specifically on the mission’s team and leading the prayer chain. She created long and lasting friendships through Bible studies, small groups, and volunteering in her community. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her family and friends. Joyce’s belief in Jesus as her personal savior gives hope to those who mourn that we will see her again.
Joyce loved to read, craft, and work on the genealogy of her family. One of Joyce’s greatest joys was her grandchildren Noah, Emma, Ava, Ian, Lea, Sawyer, Max and Samantha, who she loved without measure and were often the recipients of those crafting projects.
A visitation will be held on November 16 from 9-11 a.m. and a memorial service at 11 a.m. all at Pine Grove Community Church, 1360 N Stevens St., Rhinelander, WI.
The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the family.
