A federal district judge has rejected yet another effort by Minocqua Brewing Company owner Kirk Bangstad to have Oneida County’s lawsuit against him for zoning violations removed to federal court, roundly dismissing Bangstad’s claims of federal jurisdiction as a misreading of the law.
Judge denies restraining order in Bangstad case
A northern Wisconsin circuit judge has denied a petition by Lakeland Times publisher Gregg Walker for a four-year harassment restraining order against Minocqua Brewing Company owner Kirk Bangstad, saying Bangstad’s recent conduct was both “outrageous” and “bullying” but did not meet the statutory criteria for an injunction because it was an isolated incident.

Minocqua Brewing Company owner Kirk Bangstad last week directly threatened to disrupt the town of Minocqua’s Independence Day parade unless county officials capitulated and gave him a zoning permit that has been revoked because of ongoing and repeated violations, but in the end no protests took place and the town enjoyed a full day of holiday celebrations.

Minocqua Brewing Company owner Kirk Bangstad has posted a cash bond in Oneida County circuit court after being charged with two misdemeanors — disorderly conduct and bail-jumping — for a disturbance at his Front Street location last Friday, in which six others at the scene were also arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
