The Lakeland boys’ tennis team advanced two flights to the next round with the beginning of the postseason Tuesday. The Thunderbirds tied for fourth out of six teams with eight points at a WIAA Division 2 subsectional meet at John & Fay Menard YMCA Tennis Center in Eau Claire.

Lakeland Thunderbirds boys’ basketball summer offensive skills camp June 9-12
The Lakeland boys’ basketball program will be offering an offensive skills camp June 9 through 12 for boys going into first grade through boys going into eighth grade. The camp will be run by Lakeland head boys’ basketball coach Jacob Jarvensivu along with many assistants and current/former players.

LUHS softball bests Chequamegon
The Lakeland Union High School softball team ended the regular season with a 6-1 road win over non-conference Chequamegon Thursday. “I thought it was a solid overall effort,” coach Whitney Furtak said. “We did a lot of things well and used it as another opportunity to continue improving before playoffs.”

Fall flag football league begins in August
Practices and games will be held on the Lakeland High School game field and practice field. This league is focused on having fun, skill introduction and development and learning football strategy. Sportsmanship and teamwork will also be taught.
T-Bird golf takes third in match-play tournament
The Lakeland golf team ended the regular season with a different type of golf event Wednesday at Trout Lake Golf Course in Arbor Vitae. The Thunderbirds hosted non-conference teams Prentice and Wausau East for a match-play event.
