Jennie Lee Peterson

Jennie Lee Peterson (Birkholz) 82, received a “call” on Jan. 14, 2021 from her Lord and Savior. Her work was done here and she was invited to a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Everyone knows Jennie couldn’t pass up a good party.
Jennie joined her parents Alfred and Crystal (Weaver) Birkholz, her brothers Richard (Dick) and Jack Birkholz and her sisters, Sally (Birkholz) Himes and Janet (Tom) Yelton.
Jennie left many people to keep her memory alive. Her husband Sam, her children, Tori (Jack) Brunold, Traci (Mike) McClintock, Tanya (Greg) Prevatt, Ty (Kathleen) Peterson. Her grandchildren, Jennie (Mark) Donohue, Lydia (Jordan) Walker, Matthew (fiancee Anna) Brunold, McKenna (Jordan) Cherry, Jake McClintock, Sam, Max and Alea Prevatt, Bo, Brett and Bella Peterson. Her great-grandsons, Ethan and Owen Donohue, Jude, Quinn and Dean Walker. Her beloved sister and brothers-in-law, confidant Marilou (Floyd) Peterson, Kay (Dan) Peterson, Dottie (Leon “Kuffy”) Kusserow, Tom Yelton.
Her story started on Nov. 6, 1938 in Woodruff, as the baby of five. At the age of 13, she met Sam Peterson the love of her life, when they attended confirmation classes at Calvary Lutheran Church. They were married on Dec. 26, 1956 when Sam was on leave from the Navy. The next day they headed to Norfolk, Va., to begin their married life, she was 18, he was 19. They shared 64 years together.
Jennie enjoyed splitting her time between her homes in Woodruff and Eustis, Fla. She enjoyed watching birds at her feeders at both of her homes. She always had her bird book ready in the event she did not recognize a new visitor at the feeder. While in Florida she and Dad enjoyed their daily Happy Hour/Coffee hour with their neighbors, “The Aldrich Street Gang.” She especially enjoyed entertaining and hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for family and friends.
We will remember Mom with her sunglasses on her head and Kleenex up her sleeve. We love and miss you!
A Memorial service is tentatively planned for July 31, 2021 at Ascension Lutheran Church. Please watch The Lakeland Times and Facebook for more details as the time gets closer.
