Writer questions LTE policy
To the Editor:
I just read this submission to the “Letters to the Editor” section:
“Somebody asks me if I would vote for Hillary Clinton. I said I would if it would be just between her and the devil. But then I would wonder if I made the right choice. What difference does it make?”
I have a question, because I’m new to the area. Is it your policy to publish every open letter that someone writes into the paper? If so, then I would reconsider that policy.
If there is some editorial oversight into what gets published in this section, then I would question your decision to publish this submission.
How does this piece advance public discourse in any way? We have a serious problem with each political party demonizing the other, which leads to mistrust and gridlock. We need our media to rise above thoughtless pettiness and help educate us about the issues of the day, and remind us in Wisconsin that we have a great history of working together politically.
If the editorial staff has a choice in publishing content from the public, I think they can do better than this. Here’s hoping you lead the way in maintaining integrity in the Northwoods.
