Lady Thunderbirds stay perfect
The Lakeland Union High School girls’ soccer team kept rolling with two wins in a span of three days. The Thunderbirds defeated Great Northern Conference opponent Medford 2-0 Thursday at Raider Field. Then, Lakeland beat non-conference Barron/Cumberland 6-0 Saturday at IncredibleBank Field.
Lakeland baseball’s comeback attempt falls short
The Lakeland baseball team had one its best offensive showings of the season, and in the process, nearly won its first game of the season. Merrill beat the Thunderbirds 12-10 Friday at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua. Lakeland played all seven innings for the first time since April 20.

Battling the Blue Jays: Lakeland fastpitch falls to Merrill, beats Three Lakes
Lakeland softball lost to one Bluejay team before beating a different Bluejay team in back-to-back days on Thursday and Friday. The Thunderbirds fell 9-3 on the road to Merrill in a Great Northern Conference game Thursday. On Friday, Lakeland beat Three Lakes 9-4 in Minocqua.
LUHS track and field gets big-meet experience in Rice Lake
The Lakeland Union High School track and field team put its skills to the test against new competition. The Thunderbird boys placed third out of six teams with 96 points at the Rice Lake Invite Thursday. The Lakeland girls took fifth out of five teams with 58 points.

The Lakeland boys’ basketball program will be offering an offensive skills camp June 9 through 12 for boys going into first grade through boys going into eighth grade. The camp will be run by Lakeland head boys’ basketball coach Jacob Jarvensivu along with many assistants and current/former players.

The member schools of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association passed two amendments to the constitution, bylaws and rules of eligibility and conducted other membership business at the 130th Annual Meeting Friday, April 24 in Stevens Point.

Lakeland track & field wins inaugural Oneida County Triangular
Lakeland track and field came back to Minocqua with the inaugural Oneida Country Triangular trophy following Tuesday’s meet. The Oneida County Triangular featured three schools — Lakeland, Rhinelander and Three Lakes. The Thunderbirds had the most combined points between the boys’ and girls’ teams.

Lady Thunderbirds score season-high nine goals
Lakeland girls’ soccer scored a season-high nine goals in a 9-1 Great Northern Conference road win over Antigo Tuesday. The Thunderbirds (7-0-0, 5-0-0-0 GNC) got goals from five different players. The game ended in the 65th minute due to the mercy rule with Lakeland up by eight goals.
