Thunderbirds finish strong for fourth straight conference win
Lakeland golf traveled to Black River Golf Course in Medford and continued its winning ways Monday. The Thunderbirds won the fifth Great Northern Conference meet with a score of 328. They beat second-place Tomahawk by 14 strokes. Mosinee came in third with a 343 and Rhinelander fifth at 356.

LUHS track and field team takes seventh place for boys and girls
The Thunderbird track and field team featured a mix of JV and varsity student-athletes in Tomahawk on Tuesday. The Lakeland boys finished seventh out of 11 teams with 43 points at the Tomahawk Invite. The Lakeland girls totaled 37.5 points for seventh out of 11 teams.
LUHS boys’ tennis drops three matches
The Lakeland boys’ tennis team dropped three matches in a non-conference invite Friday, May 8 hosted by Regis High School in Eau Claire. Osceola, Regis and La Crosse Aquinas all beat Lakeland by scores of 6-1.

Lakeland youth football registration open
Registration is open for youth sixth-, fifth- and fourth-grade players in the Lakeland district wishing to play tackle football. They compete with other area teams in the Northwoods League. Practice for the upcoming season will begin in early August. The season typically ends by mid-October.
Lakeland youth girls’ travel basketball registration open
Registration for the 2026-2027 Lakeland Girls Hoops Club youth girls’ travel basketball season that is for Lakeland area schools for grades 4 through 8 is open. The season will start in October/November and run through January/February.

Lakeland Thunderbirds boys’ basketball summer offensive skills camp June 9-12
The Lakeland boys’ basketball program will be offering an offensive skills camp June 9 through 12 for boys going into first grade through boys going into eighth grade.
