Brant Anton Loichinger


Brant Anton Loichinger, age 81 died Thursday, Sept. 24, after a long fight with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born in Chicago on Dec. 15, 1938 to Henry and Ida Mae Loichinger. Drafted into the Army in 1962, he married Karen Drefhall, who joined him stationed in Georgia.
Brant leaves his wife; Karen and two sons; Brant Allen (Jeannie) and David Anton (Patti) and three granddaughters Hanna, Sara, and Mary Kate. He also leaves two siblings Fred (Jean) Loichinger and Carol Hundley.
Brant worked at Viskase Corporation for 35 years as a mechanical technician, building prototypes in R&D. His skills led him into photography hobby, which included working for a local newspaper; stained glass artwork; and woodworking, including furniture building in retirement. Brant and Karen moved to the Northwoods in 2000, where he especially enjoyed fishing.
He sang in church choirs from a young man until his disease made it impossible. He loved to be with people and tell his stories (frequently about the army).
He was a gentle soul, was quick to start up a conversation with anyone he met and made the world a better place for all who knew him.
Memorial Service for Brant will be held at a later in 2021.
