Jeffery L. Stenz

On May 31, 2020, our brother, Jeffery L. Stenz passed away unexpectedly while fishing on Lake Michigan.
Jeff was born in Milwaukee on Dec. 6, 1961, and moved to Minocqua with his parents when he was 14 years old. Jeff lived an loved to fish. He studied fish patterns and eventually became a guide. He called his business 4 Seans Guide Service. He fished for all species, but targeted panfish, especially crappie.
He attended many sport shows promoting his style of fishing and various types of tackle used. Through his fishing, he met many amazing and wonderful people who became friends and mentors.
To supplement his fishing passion, he worked as a cook at various restaurants in the area. These included Country Kitchen, Ribberside, Minocqua Yacht Club and Willow Haven, among others.
He also worked at Northwoods Foods as a meat cutter and wild game processor.
Ten years ago, Jeff had a very important conversation with his friend Steve. With his help, and numerous other friends, he was able to conquer his demons. He also found faith in God, which guided him throughout the rest of his life.
Jeff eventually left the Northwoods and moved to Theresa, Wisconsin. Living there put him near his second passion, racing. He attended races at Road America and Slinger Speedway. He was also a huge Nascar fan.
Jeff was employed at Mercury Marine building engines at the time of his death. He was so proud to work at the company that had powered his fishing boats throughout his career.
As a young boy, his father would take him fishing for white bass in Oshkosh. As they drove through Fond du Lac, he remembered his father saying, “Maybe someday you will work for Mercury.”
Jeff is survived by his son, Michael, stepson William, brothers Gary (Linda), Dave (Kay), Gregg, (Kim), Tim (Cheryl), Larry (Lynette), cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Patricia Stenz, and by his ex wife Madea (Meyer).
Thank you to all who have reached out to us in our time of sorrow. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
