Halcyon Lee Coble Kasmarek

Halcyon Lee Coble Kasmarek, age 90, of Woodruff passed away of natural causes on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Bell Tower Residence. She was born on Jan. 6, 1930 to Dwight and Zuella Coble in Lincoln, Neb. In high school and college she made many life-long friends who fondly remember her as “Tubby.” It was at the University of Nebraska where she met a young soldier named Robert Kasmarek and upon graduation they were married on June 6, 1951. They lived for the next 20 years in Janesville. “Kazz” and “Halcy” thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company and the company of many fun loving friends, making those some very happy years. After a short stay in Wausau, they moved to the Lakeland area in 1975 where they lived out the rest of their lives.
Halcyon will not be remembered for being either soft-spoken or timid. She was witty, energetic and loved nature. She dedicated her time helping others to develop their faith. Halcyon was very active member of the Catholic community serving as Head of the Renewal Program, Lay Leader of Prayer and the Finance Council at Our Lady Queen of the Universe. She had the distinct honor of leading the first Sunday celebration in absence of a priest for the Lakeland Cluster of Parishes. Halcyon served as President of the Diocese of Catholic Women as well as a founding member of the Marywood Spiritual Center Advisory Board. Halcyon was a long-time member of the Howard Young Board and served a stint as president.
Surrounded by her loving family and several friends, Halcyon was interred on Thursday, July 30 at Forrest Garden Cemetery where she was laid to rest with her husband of 59 years. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bell Tower for their patient and loving care and to Diana Maki for her presence in Halcyon’s final hours. She is survived by her three children, Mary (Dorshorst), James, Robert Jr. and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J Kasmarek, Sr.
Memorials in the name of Halcyon Kasmarek are to be directed to Bell Tower Residence Assisted Living, 1500 O Day Street, Merrill, WI 54452.
