June Patricia Chapman
After attending Sacred Heart Catholic School in Chicago, she started her work years as a welder, later becoming a receptionist for Swift & Co., before moving north to Rhinelander.
She managed a Kickapoo gas station for 17 years, waitressed at the Country Kitchen, and later owned a little gift shop called Mabel’s in Lac du Flambeau. After retiring she owned and operated the Eagle’s Hideaway also in Lac du Flambeau.
June’s favorite pasttime was gambling at area casinos. She loved her hometown casino, but also enjoyed the many bus trips to other facilities.
June met and married Llewellen Chapman in 1977. He preceded her in death, as did her parents and her siblings, Charles Martin and Ida May (Martin) Kramer.
She is survived by her daughter Fran (Ralph) Steinke of Cary, Ill.,; her granddaughter, Tracy (Mark) Abraham and three great grandchildren; Luke, Ella and Katie all of Skokie, Ill.
June leaves behind her best friend, banker, caretaker, and confidant, her nephew Carl Chapman of Lac du Flambeau. He will surely miss her wit, her charm, and her companionship.
Per June’s request, cremation has taken place and her funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 18 at 11 a.m. at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, with a visitation from 10 a.m. till time of service.
A luncheon will be held after the service followed by interment at the Memorial Cemetery in Lac du Flambeau. Pastor Maxine Gray will be officiating the services.
