Dr. Raymond W. Broz


Dr. Raymond W. Broz, MD, 100, died Thursday, May 21, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society-Winthrop, Minn.
He was born July 22, 1919 in Chicago, son of the late Francis and Marie (Bilek) Broz. On June 9, 1945 he married Dorothy A. Osborn in Hillside, Ill. She preceded him in death on June 9, 2008.
Raymond attended Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and was in family practice in Franklin Park, Ill., and once retired he continued practicing medicine in Northern Wisconsin, on an occasional basis in Park Falls, with the Howard Young Medical Center, Minocqua. He loved delivering babies! He was very proud of his service in the U.S. Army as a captain and served in the Army of Occupation in Bavaria and Germany in the immediate months following World War II. He displayed his medals proudly. Upon retirement from his medical practice in Franklin Park, he resided in Lac du Flambeau and Minocqua area where he was active in the St. Anthony Catholic parish the Lakeland Chorus of Barbershoppers. He also loved to garden and donated food to the Food Pantry. He remained faithful to the Catholic Faith and loved the Catholic Church his entire life. He moved to Minnesota when he needed more care in 2013.
Survivors include Raymond Jr. (Rita), Oak Ridge, Tenn.; Roger (Judith) Marshalltown, Iowa; Gary (Donna) Broadview, Ill.; Barbara (Ronald) Dietl, Lafayette, Minn.; Robert (Kristina) Franklin Park, Ill.; Richard, Markesan, Wisc.; John (Marilou), Bloomington, Minn.; and Susan (Rich) Pierce, Strasburg, Colo.; 24 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren and newborn great-great granddaughter, Amaris. Also survived by brothers-in law and extended family members in the Midwest area.
Besides his parents and spouse, Dorothy, he was preceded in death by his brother, A.A. Broz, his sister, Rose Rauch, daughter-in-law Hedy Broz and great-grandchild Maximus Schoeder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 28,2020 at St. Francis deSales Church, Winthrop, Minn. Father Bruno Santiago will preside, and it will be live streamed through MN Valley Funeral home Facebook page. Interment will be later in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Ill.
