Ronald W. Schlenz
Services were held at noon on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial was at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ron was born Jan. 17, 1936 in Kenosha to Wallace and Leona (Kellerman) Schlenz. He worked as a tool and die maker for American Motors, retiring after 30 years of service. He married Jean (Berg) Kruger on Sept. 1, 1993 in Minocqua. She preceded him in death on Dec. 5, 2020.
Ron had a great sense of humor and loved playing pranks on friends and family members. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed shooting and reloading ammunition. He was an expert knife maker and raised German shorthair dogs. He was Mr. Wisconsin in 1958. He and his wife Jean enjoyed traveling and spending time in Florida.
Ron is survived by his children: Dale Harrison of Racine, and Kirk (Brenda) Schlenz of Manitowish Waters; stepchildren: Dixie Hoogesteger Plowman (Randy) of Sarona, Kathy Kruger of Lake City, Minn.; Tammy (Gary) Florence of Wisconsin Rapids; and Michael Kruger of Wisconsin Rapids; grandchildren: Austen (Amanda) Lucksted, Casey (Eric) Lehner, Dalanie Schlenz, and Garrit Schlenz; step-grandchildren: Andy (Ann) Hoogesteger, Charles (Mandy) Hoogesteger, Rose (Jon) Grunewald, Tasia (Jake) Malooly, Jessica Kruger, and Amanda Jean Kruger; four great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren; and his dog, Foxy. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean; sister, Gwendolyn Neau; brother, Russell Schlenz; and grandson, Trevor Schlenz.
