Bob was born and raised in Glenview, Ill. Growing up, he enjoyed golfing and spending time in northern Wisconsin. After getting married, Bob moved “up north” with his new wife where they co-owned and operated the Dutch Door tavern. He held many jobs throughout the years and was a man of all trades.
He enjoyed time with his family; skiing, swimming, shooting pool, and fishing off the dock. Bob also enjoyed reading and was full of fun facts. His trivia skills were unmatched by anyone who dared play against him. He passed down his love of science fiction and chess playing abilities.
Bob leaves behind his mother, Virginia Fender of Glenview, Ill.; two children, Sarah Fender of Las Vegas, and Matthew (Kelsey) Fender of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two siblings, Peter Fender of Bradenton, Fla., and Judy (Brad) Waldmann of St. Germain: and nephew Ryan Waldmann of Brooklyn Park, Minn. He was preceded in death by his father, Ferdinand Fender and sister, Susan Fender.
Due to COVID-19, the family has chosen to celebrate his life at a later date where they can be joined with family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the Plum Lake Library, Sayner, WI 54560.
Arrangements by Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home, Eagle River. Online condolences may be expressed at gaffney-busha.com.
