Dwight F. Sandman passed into eternal life on Jan. 13, 2021 at his home, after a brief illness. Dwight was born March 26, 1931 to Herman and Liela (Miller) Sandman He graduated from Barrington High School and the University of Dubuque with a BS in education. While in Dubuque, Dwight was a member of the Mu Sigma Beta Fraternity and he played the clarinet in a dance band. On June 18, 1955 he united in marriage with Fay C. Kraus and they enjoyed a 65 year long union that gave them both great comfort and joy. Dwight was a teacher at Countryside School in Barrington, Ill., Lake Zurich Schools and after their move to the Northwoods at North Lakeland Elementary School. Dwight is survived by his wife, Fay; two children, Don (Patti) Sandman and Sue (Douglas) Morrison. He had five grandchildren, Megan (Manoel) Silva, Chad (Elizabeth) Sandman, Caralie (Justin) Roselius, Kristin Morrison and Kate (Chad) Kahles and seven great-grandchildren. Dwight had a caring heart and has been known for his generosity and abundant garden produce. He was always bringing fresh vegetables to church and friends. He loved his church family at the United Church of Christ in St. Germain. He especially loved singing in the choir. An avid fisherman, he could be found most evenings in his beloved boat trailing a beetle spin. He was a donor to many local organizations and was an active member of his local lake association. The family would like to thank the members of the St. Germain UCC, the Plum Lake Rescue Squad, the Plum Lake Library and Ascension Hospice for making Dwight’s last months comfortable. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Plum Lake Rescue Squad or the St. Germain United Church of Christ.
