Right from the first serve, the Lakeland Thunderbird volleyball team established its play and cruised to a three-set sweep to open the playoffs on Tuesday. No. 6 Lakeland beat No. 11 Ashland 3-0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-14) in a WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal match in Minocqua.
