Karlin Williams’ walk-off hit, Saylor Timmerman’s state-record 29 strikeouts lift Lakeland past Shawano in regional playoffs
A game that seemed like it would never end turned into one of the most exhilarating and wild wins for the Lakeland softball team. The fourth-seeded Thunderbirds beat Shawano, the No. 5 seed, 1-0 in 13 innings in a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal game in Minocqua on Tuesday. Karlin Williams hit a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the 13th inning to send Lakeland to the regional final game for a second straight season.
