A stout defense kept the Lakeland girls’ soccer team competitive in two season-opening games over the weekend. Notre Dame Academy defeated the Thunderbirds 2-0 in Green Bay on Friday night. Lakeland then tied Kingsford, Mich. 1-1 on Saturday.
