Flag football league begins in September
Practices and games will be held on the Lakeland High School game field and practice field. This league is focused on having fun, skill introduction and development and learning football strategy. Sportsmanship and teamwork will also be taught.
Alzheimer’s Remembering the Greens in Paradise on June 28
Tee off for Alzheimer’s Remembering the Greens in Paradise Saturday, June 28 at Pinewood Country Club in Harshaw. This nine-hole scramble costs $75 per golfer and $300 per team. Check-in is at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
T-Birds of Tomorrow youth football camps this summer
Skill and fundamental camps for incoming 2nd through 7th graders will run June 23-24 and July 21-22. Campers will learn the basics of every offensive and defensive position and participate in team-building exercises designed to make them better players in this non-padded, minimal-contact camp.
LUHS girls’ soccer team dominates, wins conference opener
The Lakeland girls’ soccer team saw a lot of first-time goal scorers in their Great Northern Conference opener against Antigo. The Thunderbirds beat the Red Robins 10-0 in 60 minutes on Thursday.

Lakeland golf gets outside, plays in first tournament
The Lakeland golf team finally got a chance to show their skills outside and saw positive results overall. The Thunderbirds placed 13th out of 24 teams with a score of 334 at the Monona Grove Invite at The Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove.
LUHS track and field wins four events at first outdoor meet
The Lakeland and track and field teams shined with several first-place victories and more personal records (PRs) in their first outdoor meet of the season. The Thunderbirds took part in the Rosholt Early Bird at Rosholt High School on Thursday.
Let’s Tee Off Against Breast Cancer gets $4,000 donation for June 19 event
A big thank you to Marthaler Chevrolet of Minocqua for a generous donation of $4,000 to our annual “Let’s Tee Off Against Breast Cancer” event. The event will be Thursday, June 19, at Trout Lake Golf Club in Arbor Vitae.
Antigo hands Lakeland baseball their second conference loss
Another big inning given up by the Lakeland baseball team hurt their chances of getting the second win of their season. Antigo beat the Thunderbirds 15-5 in five innings in Antigo on Thursday.
Lakeland Area Baseball Association registration now open
Lakeland Area Baseball Association (LABA) registration is now open. For ages 14 through 19 — based on age on April 30, 2025. Babe Ruth Senior and Senior Legion are options. Registration is open now through Sunday.

Red Robins ‘rain’ supreme
Antigo softball snapped Lakeland’s five-game win streak on a rainy and windy Thursday afternoon conference clash. The Red Robins beat the Thunderbirds 6-0 at Lenz Field.
