Lakeland swims against GNC-leading Rhinelander
Rhinelander presented the Lakeland girls’ swim team with a challenge when the two teams met up at the Lakeland Union High School pool. The Hodags beat the Thunderbirds 126-19 Thursday in Minocqua. Olivia Mickle and Saylor Timmerman scored all 19 of Lakeland’s points.

The Lakeland cross country teams set out to Wausau for the traditional Bill Smiley Invite. Not at full strength, the Thunderbirds still had some top finishes. “We were not full strength today with several people being sick and a couple people out of town,” coach Gordy Drewsen said.

Looking to bounce back from a loss against Pacelli, the Lakeland girls’ tennis team made a statement with three wins in Wisconsin Rapids. The Thunderbirds beat Wisconsin Rapids 6-1, Assumption 6-1 and River Falls 5-2 Saturday.

Lakeland volleyball welcomed a challenging Prentice team (11-1) to the Lakeland Union High School fieldhouse Thursday. It turned into a competitive match. The Buccaneers beat the Thunderbirds 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-13, 25-21).
LUHS girls’ tennis wins seventh consecutive match to begin season
Lakeland girls’ tennis had another opportunity to extend their win streak to begin the season. They did just that in Phillips. The Thunderbirds beat Phillips 7-0 on the road on Thursday to improve to 7-0 overall.
