Defense leads Lady T-Birds by Bluejays
The second half of Great Northern Conference play is underway, and the Lakeland girls’ basketball team avenged an earlier loss on Friday. The Thunderbirds beat Merrill 43-26 in Merrill. The Lakeland boys’ basketball team found itself in another close second half on Friday night but couldn’t find the victory. Merrill defeated the Thunderbirds 64-54 in the first Great Northern Conference contest between the two teams since 2010.
Mercer boys’ basketball drops conference game to Bayfield
The Mercer boys’ basketball team remained winless following their latest Northern Lights Conference loss last week. Bayfield (5-7, 4-4 Northern Lights) defeated the Tigers 90-34 on Tuesday, Jan. 13 in Bayfield. The loss put Mercer’s record at 0-7, all games coming within the conference.
