LETTERS/OPINIONS

Don’t take the lakes for granted: A heartfelt farewell

To the Editor: After 28 years, my wife and I have to leave what we consider “God’s Country.” I would like to say a couple things first.

Reader criticizes publisher, paper and ‘brewer’

To the Editor: It was heartwarming to see that a Vilas County Circuit Court judge ruled against Lakeland Times publisher Gregg Walker in his vindictive pursuit of a harassment restraining order against Minocqua Brewing Company owner Kirk Bangstad.

No boarding, just clear wake rules

To the Editor: Will animal control officers be boarding wake boats? This reply is about your July 25 news analysis titled, “Pfeifer won’t prosecute DeMet.” It included an extended discussion about whether towns can issue citations for violations of ordinances prohibiting enhanced wakes.

Trump’s attack on President Obama

It’s not just Trump being Trump. We — and by “we” I mean both the public and the media — have gotten so used to Trump repeating outrageous lies that we tend to dismiss them out of hand. But this is much, much worse.

Lakeland Times: Our View

They say there are only three things in life that are certain — death, taxes, and annoying liberals — but we’re going to add a fourth, namely, that if you act for political gain instead of standing on principle, it will come back to bite you.

Helping hands aren’t headlines here

To the Editor: Whenever there is a significant emergency in a locale outside Wisconsin, a reporter always interviews victims who are genuinely surprised at how many others step forward to help them.

To the Editor: Subject is about Wildwood Wildlife Zoo, and Ritchie Propane turned developer, over 10 acres which Ritchie owns and wants to build on next the Wildwood Wildlife Park.

Lakeland Times: Our View

Just when you think everything is all clear, that the Democrats have gone so far round the bend that even the bend is shaking its head, just when you start to think that maybe the future is not so dark after all, that’s when you remember to turn your head …

So much for the rapists and murderers

Remember when candidate Donald Trump went on and on about all the rapists and murderers who were invading our country and he said he was going to deport them? It was his favorite issue, his answer to everything. It was enough to frighten anyone and helped him win the election.

An open letter to Senator Johnson

To the Editor: I am very disappointed that HR1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, will not reduce the deficit. HRI increased the U.S. federal debt limit by $5 Trillion dollars; congress knows the deficit will increase under this bill!
