Stanley Hugh Hartline, 91, of Woodruff, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026 at the Seasons of Life Hospice House of Woodruff. Stan was born on Sept. 4, 1934 to Blanche and Harold Hartline at the Doolittle Glynn Hospital in Lancaster. Music was embedded in Stan’s upbringing through both of his parents, and he played the trombone during his high school years. In those same years, he rode his horse to school. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1952. After graduation, he went on a camping adventure to Canada with his best friends, Bob Alcorn and Loren “Jack” Kelly, who would remain close throughout their lives.

In 1955, Stan met Elaine Winters at a dance in Fennimore. Stan and Elaine were married on July 9, 1957 and raised a family of seven children.

Stan had a variety of jobs, but many remember him in Lancaster at the Kroger grocery store and as the milkman with Bancroft Dairy. He honed his talents in sales and garnered a position with WaterCare as a water softener salesman. His gift of creating relationships earned him the Sales-Pro Award during his tenure.

Sales wasn’t enough. Stan wanted more and felt a calling to serve others. He turned his career towards counseling for drug and alcohol concerns. This was the beginning of his new life. He craved the solace of the Northwoods, moved to Woodruff, and this is where he met his second wife and love, Jean Koranda.

Stan and Jean married on September 15, 2002. They were together as soulmates and friends for 40 years. They valued their time with family and friends, beachcombing in Hawaii over many visits (where they married), and talking to the deer from their back deck.

Over his lifetime, Stan enjoyed turkey and deer hunting, golfing, and collecting agates and driftwood from Lake Superior. He was always known to be humming and whistling, and at times playing the rattle bones. In his later years, his favorite activity was to pet his cat and best friend, Kiki, on his lap.

Stan had a warm smile bigger than life that said, “Damn glad to know ya!”

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Blanche Hartline, and various cousins and relatives.

Stan is survived by his wife, Jean Hartline, and children Robert Hartline, Michelle (Tim) Lieffring, Steve (Cella) Hartline, Deanna (John) Seippel, Katherine (David) Wright, Nancy (Daniel Massey) Nabak, Rhonda (Wes) Knoespel, Scott (Shelley) Koranda, Michelle (Jay) Gobert, and Brian (Nicole) Koranda. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. His cats, Kiki and Kona, will also dearly miss him.

Per Stan’s wishes, there will be no services held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff.

A hui hou! Until we meet again...

Jean and family would like to thank all of the Hospice workers, especially Brenda, and the Aspirus Seasons of Life staff for Stan’s care. Bolger Funeral Home is assisting the family, www.bolgerfuneral.com for condolences.
