LUHS spring sports teams total 48 all-conference student-athletes
The Lakeland Union High School spring sports season concluded with two team Great Northern Conference championships and numerous postseason accolades.
In total, 48 different LUHS student-athletes received all-conference recognition by the end of the season.

Golf
In golf, the all-conference teams were based on individual points accumulated through all eight GNC meets. The first five point-getters made the first team, the next five the second team and the next five after that honorable mention.
Four Thunderbirds got all-conference honors over the course of conference play. Senior Davis Kock was first team all-conference and had the second-most points at 55.
Senior Talan Pockat made second team all-conference with the sixth-most conference points at 34.50. Senior Michael Melka also made second team with 16.50 points.
Senior Jaydan Schilling was honorable mention all-conference with 13.50 points.
LUHS golf coach Scott Howard was named the conference’s coach of the year for a third straight year, fifth overall.
Boys’ tennis
The top-three finishers in each flight made the all-conference teams from the May 21 conference meet in Rhinelander. First place was first team, second place was second team and third place was honorable mention.
Seven Thunderbirds made the three teams, including the conference’s doubles players of the year.
Sophomore Andrew Colianni and freshman Main Byram won the No. 1 doubles conference championship that put them on the first team. They were also the GNC doubles players of the year in their first season together.
Seniors Marshall Czlapinski and Jayden Shepski were second team all-conference with a runner-up finish at No. 2 doubles.
Freshman Danny Hartzheim finished third at No. 4 singles, putting him honorable mention all-conference. The same went for junior AJ Blatner and sophomore Zoli Gyuro at No. 3 doubles.
Track & field
Similar to tennis, all-conference teams were based on how student-athletes did at the conference meet. All-conference teams were based on the May 19 meet in Rhinelander.
A total of 23 Thunderbirds received all-conference honors with senior Marshall Holmquist receiving field event person of the year for the boys.
Holmquist won both the long and triple jump to give him first team all-conference honors in both. Senior Tyson Redman was first team after winning the 200-meter dash. Freshman Emerson Rubo was first team all-conference in both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs with victories in both.
Other all-conference honors went to Tyson Redman in the 100 (second team), sophomore Blake Redman in the 200 (second), junior Charlie Ernst in the 1,600 (second) and 3,200 (second), senior Barrett Eggen, freshman Kaden Redman, freshman Colin McKinney and sophomore Jennings Kern in the 4x800 (second) and sophomore Sean Morgan in both the shot put (second) and discus (second).
Sophomore Vivian Pertile was all-conference in the 400 (second), Rubo in the 800 (second), senior Halie James, sophomore Haidyn Pfannerstill, freshman Emma Chartrand and junior Harmony Moore in the 4x100 (second) and Pfannerstill in the high jump (second).
For honorable mention all-conference, Blake Redman, sophomore Logan Burrows, Holmquist and sophomore Mason Schettino made it in the 4x100, junior Will Backhaus, Holmquist, sophomore Max Zeman and Schettino in the 4x200, Addison Eggen in both the 800 and 1,600, Pertile in the 200, freshman Hope Veldt, junior Hailey Moore, Pfannerstill and Pertile in the 4x400, Veldt in the long jump and junior Hannah Fieweger in the discus.
