Rosemary St John, 93, of Arbor Vitae, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025. Rosemary was born October 1, 1931, to John and Caroline Kirnbauer in Chicago.
On October 14, 1959, she was united in marriage to Richard (John) St John at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Chicago. Moved to Minocqua in August 1964. A faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Third Order Secular Franciscan professed on September 22, 2009, a member of the Formation, eucharistic minister, atrium assistant, welcome committee, Prayer Shawl, the Circle of Women, the Franciscan Crown Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet and Way Café. Member of Learning in Retirement through the Nicolet College, volunteer Aspirus Hospital Auxiliary, Minocqua Health and Rehab, Milestone Assistant Living and Lake Shore Nursing Homes.
Loved being a wife, mother, homemaker, to our four sons: John (Mary) of Prescott, Michael (Ellen) of Enumclaw, Wash., Steven (Naru) of Arley, Ala., Alan (Jeanine) of Anchorage, Alaska; our daughter: Kathleen (Bill) Wright of Phoenix, Ariz.
Proud grandma to Pat (Jessie), Jackie (Andres), Cory (Carol), Stacy (Konrad) Kessler, Tony (Mayra), Blake (Virginia), Ross (Kelly), Kyle (Alicia) and Collin.
Delighted great-grandma to Van and Clay Kessler of Boise, Idaho, Hudson, Hunter, Grace of Wasilla, Alaska, Layla Rose and Nora Lee of Catonsville, Md., Stella Marie and Waylan Carr of Anchorage, Alaska, Mason and Shanley Hunter of White Bear, Minn.
Rosemary enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, fishing, camping, reading, great courses, sewing, quilting, crocheting, sketching, painting, and decorating.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her youngest son Allan, her loving parents, her sister Irma and her aunt Minnie, uncle Matt; cousins: Betty (George), Daisy (Bob), Ann (Joe); brothers-in-law: Lucian Hatfield and Edwin St John; sister-in-law: Mildred St John Kirkpatrick.
Rosemary is survived by all her loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her sisters’ children: Linda, Joanne (Dick Kelly), Lucian (Linda), Dan (Selma), John (April), Pete (Nancy), Tom (Leslie) and all the children. My extended family: Ron and Carolyn Magan, Anne, Irene, and Mary Jo.
Funeral Mass for Rosemary will be held on Friday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with a visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in Rosemary’s name to Compassus Hospice of Woodruff or Marywood Spirituality Center in Arbor Vitae. The internment will take place on her parents’ gravesite in Kearny, Ariz.
