Carole A. Brahm, 82, passed away on March 2, 2025 at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, from Stage IV Ovarian Cancer with family by her side.
Carole was born on February 10, 1943 in Clinton, to Steven and Thelma (Harris) Benkovic.
Carole graduated from Delavan-Darien High School and went on to receive her IBM certifications in Milwaukee.
Carole and Paul were united in marriage on August 31, 1970 and celebrated 46 years of marriage before Paul’s passing on October 16, 2016. Together, they owned and operated their business, Sportsman’s Park, a Yamaha dealership and restaurant, on Delavan Lake from 1970 until they sold the business in 2000. After selling the business, Paul and Carole “retired” Up North to their second home in Eagle River. Upon her “retirement,” Carole started working at the St. Germain Golf Club in St. Germain, where she ran Mulligan’s Snack Shop. Having worked there for 23-plus years, staff and members all knew and loved Carole deeply — her absence will be felt immensely amongst the community.
Having owned a Yamaha dealership, Carole enjoyed snowmobiling with her husband, Paul, friends, and family. They would ride local trails or take trips to the Upper Peninsula and Canada. Carole loved to travel, whether it was personal vacations or trips for Yamaha, she and Paul always had a great time. One of their favorite places to go was the Smoky Mountains, especially Clingman’s Dome.
Many people knew Carole for her style, particularly her hats, which she always had on. One day she wore a hat and Paul told her she looked good in hats and that was it — her hat collection continued to grow. Often, you would see her cruising around in her Mini Cooper with one of her hats on.
Carole was an incredible woman — feisty and strong, but kind and empathetic. She lived by the Golden Rule and always treated others as she would want to be treated. She had this incredible gift of remembering names and faces, it didn’t matter who you were — a clerk at the store, a member on the golf course, a customer of hers from 45 years ago — and she befriended all.
She is survived by her three sons, Dean Prater of Darien, Timothy (Susan) Brahm of Darien, Theodore (Mary) Brahm of Adell; three grandchildren, Christopher (Molly) Brahm, Wade Prater, Amy Prater; great-granddaughter Mabel Brahm; brother Roger (Nancy) Benkovic of Georgetown, Texas; cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and her many family members on the Brahm side as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents Steven and Thelma Benkovic, her husband Paul Brahm, sister Nina Benkovic, brothers Steven Benkovic and Sterling Zweifel.
A celebration of life will be held in Eagle River, and in Delavan, at a later date. To be notified, please follow her Caring Bridge page where dates and details will be posted using the link below and search Carole Brahm: www.caringbridge.org/search.
