John P. Overshiner
John was born on October 22, 1932 in Champaign, Ill. to the late A.R. and Ann Overshiner. He was proceeded in death by his lovely wife Shirley, his oldest daughter Elizabeth Overshiner and dear sister Ann Deutsche. John is survived by his three children: Preston (Lisa) Overshiner, David (Cynthia) Overshiner and Roxanne (Scott) Bowens and grandchildren.
John met Shirley McVicar at the University of Illinois. They were later married, and made Bloomington, Ill. their home. In 1979, they moved to Boulder Junction, a place where they loved to vacation for many years. Finally, in the early 1990s, John and Shirley moved to Florida to enjoy a much warmer climate. John’s passions in life included fishing, cooking on the Weber grill and country music. In his later years, John was blessed to have met Henry Berry, who became a very loyal friend until the very end. The family would also like to extend a thank you to the staff at the Port Charlotte Living Center and Tidewell Hospice for the care they provided in John’s final years. A private memorial will be held with immediate family at the East Lawn Cemetery in Bloomington Ill.
