Melvin “Swede” Carlson
Melvin was born and raised in Sweden. He came to the United States and settled in Chicago, where he worked as a carpenter. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as part of the Seabees. Melvin met and married the former Nancy Richardson, and in 2000 they moved from Chicago to the Saint Germain area where he has lived since. They shared many cherished years together before Nancy’s passing on February 1, 2005.
Melvin enjoyed working, being outside and deer hunting.
He is survived by his daughters Nanette (Walter) Wollin and Karen Carlson, his son Kenneth Carlson, his grandchildren Nicole and Lyndsey, his great-grandchildren Chandler, Jersey and Savanna, his sisters Doris Carlson, Gladys Sandstrom and Alice (Jack) Sullivan, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy and his brother Emory.
