She was born in Milwaukee, on June 27, 1946, to Herman E. and Frances J (Caggio) Meinecke. She was raised in Milwaukee and was a 1964 graduate of Bay View High School. She attended MATC and earned her degree as a licensed practical nurse. She married Gerald Lee Calvert in Milwaukee on October 9, 1965, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The couple lived in Milwaukee and then in Caledonia and later were divorced. Angela went back to college and earned her nursing degree in 1975. She was employed as an E.R. nurse at St. Francis Hospital. She moved to Lac du Flambeau, where she continued her nursing career in the Northwoods at Howard Young Hospital, Lakeland Manor, and Home Health Care. She moved back to Milwaukee in 1996 to pursue a career in upholstery repairs and restoration. She eventually owned two shops, Devine Divans and Born-Again Furniture, Upholstery and Antique Furniture Repair. In 2003, Angela moved back to Lac du Flambeau where she continued her upholstery and antique furniture repair until her retirement in 2021.
Angela was proud to be a member of A.A. for thirty-four years and a founding member of Chicks at Six. She enjoyed sewing, politics, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, fishing, kayaking, the Trampers Trail in Star Lake, and anything outdoors.
Angie’s loving spirt will be remembered through the many friendships she fostered during her lifetime.
Surviving are her children, Maria (Mark) Zingler of Rothschild, and William (Nicole) Calvert of Lac du Flambeau, three grandchildren, Michaela Zingler, Maxwell Zingler, and Jacob Calvert, siblings, Gloria Kaylor of Alabama, Donna Frodsham of Colorado, Barbara Knippel of Cudahy, Joanne (Ron) Kaminski of Indiana, Daniel (Vicky) Knippel of Cudahy, and Marc (Cheryl) Knippel of St. Francis. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Angela is preceded in death by her loving partner, John O. Becker, who passed away in 2022; parents Herman Meinecke and Frances Meinecke-Knippel; her adopted father, Daniel Knippel; one son, Patrick Calvert; granddaughter, Emily Calvert; and a twin sister, Louise Knippel; and brother, Herman Stoldt.
At Angela’s request, cremation will take place, and any services will be private.
