He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lois Errington; seven children (or as he would say, “One and a half-dozen”), Debbie Tennies, Gary (Anne) Errington, Lou Ann (Dale) Counihan, Diane Wissing, Linda (Tom) Smits, Karen (Chuck) Altamore, and Mike (Kyrrin) Errington; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, William F. Errington; and sister, Nancy VanDen Elzen.
Jim came to Star Lake at the age of eight-years-old. He worked as a chore boy at Rismon’s Lodge. Later in life, he worked at the Appleton Wire Works. At the age of 48, he and his wife took over full time ownership of Errington’s Resort from his parents, Robert and Elenore Errington. This resort is still going strong to this day.
Some of his many accomplishments include starting the Star Lakers Club, past member of the Lions Club and Sayner Barnstormers Snowmobile Club, Veteran of Korean War, received the Patriot Award from the Plum Lake Fire Department, member of the Sayner-Star Lake Chamber, Grand Marshal in the Fourth of July parade, honorary Mayor of Star Lake, and a master joke and storyteller. He was always willing to help wherever needed.
Jim will be greatly missed by his family and those who knew him.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sayner, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 1 p.m. Bolger Funeral Home is assisting the family, www.bolgerfuneral.com for online condolences.
