Ron Menozzi
He was a great man! He was a devoted husband to his wife Dorothy Jean Menozzi for 67 years. A true love story... the first time my mom saw him, she knew he would be the man she would marry. Born near Joliet, Ill., he joined the Navy Reserves at 17 and traveled the Mississippi River. He enjoyed hard work and had said many times he never had a job he didn’t like. Drafted into the Army during the Korean War, he became a sergent because of his leadership, plus, he was the only one in his platoon who could type!
While earning his masters degree in education at Illinois State University, he met Dorothy. They married in 1956 and started their family. Bowling, gardening, golfing, and wonderful family vacations filled him with great memories.
He retired after 36 years of teaching high school biology at Lockport Township High School and they built a beautiful home on Rainbow Lake in the Northwoods of Winchester. His new joy became fishing on the pontoon boat with family. Rainbow Lake is truely heaven on Earth. They spent winters in Arizona golfing and playing cards with new friends. Ron was a kind and gentle man who was generous with his time and talents and was always willing to help his neighbor.
He is preceded in death by his father Ceasar Menozzi and mother Mary Menozzi. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Menozzi, brother Eugene Menozzi, daughters Lori (Kilpatrick), Sherri, Rhonda (Harvey), nephew Gary, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
