Wayne Kompas

Wayne Kompas was taken into Jesus’s loving arms on February 5, 2023. Wayne was an ardent musky fisherman and hunter and absolutely loved being outdoors. He met the love of his life, Janet, when he was 17 and she was 15. Wayne joined the Marines and served his country for two years. In 1959, Wayne and Janet were married; a union which lasted 63 years. They raised two daughters, Carolyn and Jill. Carolyn has a son, Charlie, and Jill a daughter, Jenna. Although he was never a man to pronounce it, he loved his family deeply. Wayne and Janet owned homes in West Allis and New Berlin; and after working for Wisconsin Electric Power for 30 years, he retired and they bought their retirement home on Papoose Lake in Vilas County, which they lived in for another 30 years. Wayne is survived by his wife, Janet; daughter, Jill (Kent); grandson, Charlie (Cassie); and granddaughter, Jenna. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Behrens; parents, Charlie and Myrtle Kompas; and brother, Chuck. Per Wayne’s wishes, a private family service will take place at their church, Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Land O’ Lakes, to be officiated by Rev. Gary Albert. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at Marshfield Clinic Hospital in Minocqua and Seasons of Life Hospice in Woodruff. They are very special people.
