Nancy loved hiking, cross-country skiing, cycling, kayaking, and was quite skilled in Yoga. She was also was active in volunteer work maintaining local walking trails in area within Illinois Beach State Park near Lake Michigan.
Nancy was a very private person with a dry sense of humor, and she surprised some of us when she flashed us with her unexpected impish grin.
She was close friends with her Illinois neighbors, the Nichols family, and their dogs. Dogs adopted from the local rescue site always found a good home with the Verenski’s.
Dan and Nancy owned a small, lakeside house in northern Wisconsin. This was their retreat for the long weekends they spent before they retired. Nancy spent hours on the lake kayaking, exploring the small bays and islands and riding her bicycle to visit friends she made in the area.
She is survived by her brother, James Berry of Henderson, Nev. and sister-in-law, Bernadine Aldwinckle and her husband, Herb of Geneva, N.Y.
She is preceeded in death by husband Dan in March 1, 2020 and her parents, Christian H. Berry and Mildred H. Berry (nee Nunn).
