Dick graduated class of 1951 from Westfield High School in Westfield, N.J. He then attended Colgate University, receiving a bacherlor of arts in economics.
Richard worked as a sales manager in the United States and in the European area for Revere Copper and Brass and retired in June of 1995 after 40 years of loyal service.
Richard’s family began coming to Minocqua, in the late 1800s and he too, fell in love with the Northwoods as a very young child. Until the year 2020, he had only missed two summers in Minocqua and that was due to World War II gas rationing.
Richard was a champion swimmer in high school and college. He was also an avid golfer and a fan of all sports. He was a member of Emmanuel Church of Christ in Hanover, Pa.
In addition to his loving wife, Barbara, Dick is survived by two daughters, Margaret Kathleen (Cooledge) Eisenhut (Greg), of Mohawk, New York and Karen Ann (Cooledge) Rogers (Jeff) of Hampstead, Md. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his brother, Robert “Bob” L. Cooledge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dick’s name may be made to the Benevolent Fund at Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Community, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
