Randy began loading trucks at UPS while still in college. After obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois he continued with UPS. Randy pursued his post graduate education at Northwestern studying transportation. Randy’s attention to detail and organizational skills earned him the role of managing Christmas logistics for UPS. That is how he gained the title of Santa Claus. Randy eventually grew the requisite beard to match his namesake.
Randy personal life was consumed by music, attending primarily blues and rock concerts in the USA, Europe, and Australia. He was proud to tell you that he attended the New Orleans Jazz Festival for 33 consecutive years. Randy really enjoyed the years when the calendar cooperated and he could attend both Jazz Fest and the Kentucky Derby in Louisville which was his home base for most of his life.
When Randy was not traveling the world, in Louisville or Sarasota he could be found at his family home in Minocqua. He spent a lot of time on the lake with family and friends trying to outsmart the elusive musky. He was also a constant at his favorite bars and restaurants. Randy brought a smile to all who met him in his signature red hat, red pants, colorful shirts and collection of necklaces. He was quick to offer a glass of Veuve, a shot of Agwa and whatever other goodies he had.
All who loved Randy appreciate that partying and planning the infamous Randapaloozas was his strong suit. We are tentatively targeting January 10, 2024 near St. Petersburg Fla. for Randy’s celebration. In an attempt to live up to the Randy standards please allow time as we work out the details for his one of a kind send off.
