Elaine was a homemaker, taking care of her twins on most days but during WWII she saw an opportunity to help others as well and became a registered nurse after attending nursing school in Iowa City and being trained by the American Red Cross. In 1980 her husband, Matthew Calderwood, passed away. Elaine married Donald Jordan in 1999 and after 15 years of marriage Don preceded her in death, in 2014. Elaine was also an active member at Community Presbyterian Church in Lac du Flambeau.
Elaine will be missed by her daughter, Lorry Karpinen and her husband, Les Karpinen; grandchildren, Matthew, Trina, Jamie, and Ellie; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, Elaine is preceded in death by her son, Duane Calderwood.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family this summer.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Lakeshore, Lake Tomahawk for their exceptional care of Elaine during the last three years.
