Mark is remembered as a resilient and sedulous man, a dedicated father and grandfather, and one who found great comfort from the organized chaos of his family gatherings filled with games, playing, sports, food, competition, teasing and laughter.
Mark was a successful third generation cranberry grower, who worked with and watched Mother Nature to help grow the best crops. He was a very intuitive steward of the cranberry vines. He was a member of the state board of Wisconsin Cranberry Growers Association.
In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, sports and was a member of Ducks Unlimited.
His greatest accomplishments lay with his children and grandchildren, teaching them how to be strong, independent individuals that he himself was always known to be. He was recognized by his Stetson hat, his truck with the window down, arm out and the dog(s) in the back and a Marine Corps Sticker on the vehicle. Though he was a man of few words, he always had a presence whenever he walked into a room. Mark always impacted people with his strength, knowledge, and loyalty. He always referred to his family as the “Goldsworthy Crew,” keeping family first and always making us all one connected unit. He instilled the Marine Corp Semper Fi, always faithful, with family and those close to him.
Mark was a fierce protector with great love for his surviving family. Wife Denise (Lindquist), Zachary and wife, Barbara (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Lucas and wife, Felicia (Peoria, Ariz.), Molly (Charlie Saeger) and children, Evelyn, Mason and Madelyn (Hancock), Elizabeth and husband, Britt Unkefer and their children, Levi, Ivo and Atlee (Ellison Bay). He is also survived by his father Charles, sister Margaret (Peg) and husband Paul Byerlein, brother Tim and wife Linda, nephew Daniel, sister Anne and husband Dennis DeLoye, and nephews, Sam, Charlie, Joe, Timothy, David and niece Maggie.
Mark was welcomed into heaven by his mother Bette, all grandparents, his uncle Joe Edelman, and other dearest friends.
Visitation for Mark will be held on Friday, Jan. 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, and on Saturday, Jan. 7 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Manitowish Waters Community Presbyterian Church, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. with military honors following the service.
Donations will go toward his favorite charity, the US Marine Corps sponsored Toys for Tots.
