Susan “Susie” Stephanie Jacobs, age 83 of Woodruff, passed away on Sunday, December 11 at Rennes Health & Rehab in Rhinelander, with her family by her side. Susie was born on March 8, 1939 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Fred and Stephanie (nee Janesch) Haller. Susie attended grade school at St. Florian Church in Milwaukee, where she was a choir director for many years. She then ultimately married the love of her life, Robert Jacobs at this same church in 1961. Following a move to Presque Isle, they owned and operated Beacon Point Resort. During their time in Presque Isle Susie also owned and operated Total Leisure Connections. After the sale of Beacon Point Resort, Susie and her husband moved to Arbor Vitae where they owned and operated The Root Cellar in downtown Minocqua, along with their daughters Terri and Patti.
Susie was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in East Troy and the Presque Isle Chamber of Commerce. She loved music, singing and directing church choirs. Susie was an avid card shark and spent many hours playing solitaire, sheepshead, canasta and rummy with her grandchildren. Susie also had a green thumb and loved her time in the garden tending to her ferns and hostas.
She is survived by her husband Robert LeRoy Jacobs and her children Richard (Lisa) Jacobs, Jackie Hofstetter, Steve “Reeno” (Angie) Jacobs, Terri (Tom) Wise, Patti Rubo (Kitt Koski) and by her beloved grandchildren Erica Hofstetter, Fred (Elaina) Hofstetter, Ryan Jacobs, Lindsay (Dominic) Christensen, Olivia Wise, Journey Jacobs, Axle Jacobs, Jack Rubo, Rylie Wise, Chance Jacobs, Blaze Jacobs, Cash Jacobs, Kasey Wise, Wild Jacobs and Henry Koski. She is also survived by her blessed great grandchildren Louis and Murray Dormer and Nash Christensen. Susie is also survived by her devoted sisters Patricia Haller and Roberta Welch and also by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
