She was born in Racine, WI on March 16, 1938, a daughter of the late John and Florence (Dresen) Stindle.
She graduated from Horlick High School in Racine and worked at Johnson Wax. She married Martin P. Lang on July 14, 1962. They eloped and honeymooned for a month traveling the western states. They moved to California for several years where they started their family. After returning to Kenosha, she stayed at home for several years raising her three children. She worked at Ocean Spray and then went back to Johnson Wax where she retired in 1991 as a forklift driver. The last 22 years they wintered in warmer weather, 17 years in Lake Havasu, Arizona and 5 years in Summerfield, Florida. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff. Over the years she enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, golfing, bike riding, sewing, dancing, walking and playing cribbage. She was very creative and made many beautiful stained glass pieces. She was the type of grandma that would sit on the floor with the kids and play games or sit on the beach and make sand castles. She loved being active and doing things with her family.
Shirley is survived by a daughter Linda (Bill) McFarlane, of Summerfield, Florida; two sons Martin (Renee) Lang, of Kenosha; David Lang, of Twin Lakes; five grandchildren Ryan (Megan) Stephenson, Kyle (Hillary) Stephenson, Jared McFarlane, Rachel Lang and Jake Lang; two great grandchildren Stella Stephenson and Flint Stephenson and a sister Jane (Dick) Dorff, of Marion, Iowa.
She was preceded by her husband of 59 years on Dec. 2, 2021, a sister Marcella Ahmad and a brother James Stindle.
A Memorial Mass will be at St. John’s Catholic Church, 701 N. Lake St, Twin Lakes, on Monday, December 12, 2022 at noon with Fr. Terence Langley officiating. Visitation will be from 11 to noon.
Inurnment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Minocqua, WI at a later date.
