Cheryl was born on May 29, 1950 in East Grand Forks North Dakota to Bernie and Rose Surprenant. She graduated from Wauwatosa High School in June 1968 in Wauwatosa. For two years, she attended Milwaukee Area Technical College to become a paralegal. She realized that it was not her way and started sewing. She loved making clothes for herself, and later on for her own children.
Cheryl went into business with a friend in South Milwaukee, and started to make wedding dresses and prom dresses for the girls at the local high school in South Milwaukee. As time went on, she opened her own shop, and started working for herself. Many nights she would burn the midnight oil, to get a wedding or prom dress done on time. Even when she went on vacation a sewing machine would be humming in the cabin.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Rick Wilke, whom she married on May 16, 1975.
She is also survived by brother, Ron Surprenant; brother in-law, Leo Smith; children, Beth, Matthew (Kim), and Adam; along with her grandchild, Lauren. She is preceded in death by mother, Rose (Morissette) Surprenant; father, Bernie Surprenant; sister Dorothy (Surprenant) Smith, and sister in-law, June.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday December 3, at Bolger Cremation and Funeral Services - Woodruff Chapel. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
The family would like to thank the Compassus Hospice care team for taking care of Cheryl.
