She was born on December 29, 1943 in Chicago to Eugene and Elizabeth Kirby. In 1972 Barbara and her family moved to Hayward where she resided for many years and then moving to Woodruff in the late 80’s where she started working at Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce for several years. She then went on to work at Best Western Plus Concord Inn of Minocqua for 26 years where she retired as hotel manager. Barb never met a stranger and all that knew her loved her.
She is preceded in death by both her parents, granddaughters Hallie Marie Thompson and Heidi Jae Costlow and Son-in-law James D. Alderson Sr.
She is survived by her four children, Lisa (James) Alderson, Laura Valy, Gary (Lisa) Thompson Jr., and Kristina DeRosier. Seven grandchildren, Sara (Josh) McKaig, Stacie Cole, Gary (Tricia) Quick, Zach Quick, Brittany Quick, Brandy Quick, and Brennen (Lisa) DeRosier, 15 great grandchildren and special friend Becky Dudek.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held at Best Western Plus Concord Inn of Minocqua on Sunday, September 5 from 1 to 5 p.m.
