Vilas County board chairman goes off on Eagle River term limit referendum

Burkett to county board: ‘You’re next’

Vilas County board chairman Jerry Burkett Tuesday issued a warning to the rest of the 21-member county board. Burkett, also until recently a long-time member of the Eagle River city council, spoke out during his chairman’s report toward the end of the county board meeting against an ongoing drive by a citizen’s group in favor of a term limit referendum for the city council on the November ballot.
