The owner of an Arbor Vitae duplex on White Pine Lane was injured in a July 11 fire that destroyed the structure. Even before Arbor Vitae fire chief Mike Van Meter arrived at the scene, he activated the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) because of a personnel shortage and the hot and humid conditions.
