Photo detail

The jika rig is a presentation anglers can use when the fishing gets tough. The weight is attached to a split ring (shown here) or a snap, and then the split ring or snap is threaded through the eye of the hook. (Photo by Beckie Gaskill/Lakeland Times)

Fishing a jika rig for finicky fish

A jika rig is simply another way to present a bait to a fish. The technique came out of Japan years ago. It has not caught on as well as some of other presentations such as the Texas rig. Nor is it talked about as much. But it is still a good way to catch fish.
