Campground openings in the Chequamegon- Nicolet National Forest will be delayed

Delay due to weather-related safety concerns

Much of the 1.5 million acres of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest (CNNF) has experienced more snowfall than usual during the 2022-23 season. Due to safety concerns caused by lingering snowpack and high water in areas, it is anticipated that the opening of the CNNF’s 53 developed campgrounds will be delayed until as late as May 19. Openings of boat launches at campgrounds will also be delayed.
