Research shows changes in ephemeral ponds after flooding due to extreme precipitation events
At this year’s Wetland Science Conference, Amanda Little of the University of Wisconsin Stout spoke about her research of ephemeral ponds and the vegetation changes she saw over a five-year period. Ephemeral ponds are small, isolated wetland types. They are located in woody settings are can be dry in the late summer and early fall, although conditions change from year to year. They provide important habitat for a number of species of wildlife.
