Trapping is a main management technique
At this month’s Science on Tap event, Department of Natural Resources (DNR) research scientist Lydia Margenau spoke about one of the state’s fur bearers: river otters. Margenau works in the DNR’s office of applied science where she studied wildlife populations and uses dynamic modeling to help others make management decisions about a variety of different species that call Wisconsin home. She said she gets the fun of experiencing all of the different species in the state as well as the hard part of helping to figure out how to deal with all of the different species in the state.
